Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino are making themselves at home at Amazon Studios. Deadline reports that the creative partners/spouses have signed a multi-year overall deal with the streamer. The new deal will see the duo continue to work on their previously announced stand-up dramedy “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” while developing new projects for Amazon.

Amazon gave “Mrs. Maisel” a two-season order this spring. The 1958-set series follows Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan), a housewife who decides to pursue a career in comedy after her would-be stand-up comic husband (Michael Zegen) leaves her. Alex Borstein, Marin Hinkle, and Tony Shalhoub also star. The series’ first season is expected to drop later this year.

“Gilmore Girls” creator Sherman-Palladino wrote and directed the “Mrs. Maisel” pilot and exec produced alongside Palladino. The series’ debut earlier this year marked “one of Amazon’s best received pilots ever,” Deadline writes, “with an average customer rating of 4.9.”

“Amy and Dan are brilliant. Everything they create has such an incredible vision behind it. On top of that, they’re wonderfully funny and smart people,” commented Joe Lewis, Amazon Studios’ Head of Comedy, Drama and VR. “We’re excited about the next two seasons of ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ with them and, with this deal, we can’t wait to do a lot more together.”

“The team at Amazon has allowed us to have Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy as our presidents for the next few years and for that we are eternally grateful,” Sherman-Palladino and Palladino said in a statement. “Amazon is the future of television and we are thrilled to tag along for the ride.”

In addition to “Gilmore Girls,” Sherman-Palladino has created, written, and directed for the short-lived “Bunheads” and “The Return of Jezebel James.” Last November she revived her most beloved project on Netflix with “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.” It consisted of four mini-movies and brought back Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, and Kelly Bishop to reprise the roles of Lorelai, Rory, and Emily Gilmore. Almost all of the original main cast and supporting characters returned as well. Palladino served as producer on all of those series as well as on the original “Gilmore Girls.”
