Anna Kendrick Signs Book Deal for Humorous Autobiographical Essays

Anna Kendrick is adding another title to her already impressive resume.

The Academy Award-nominated actress and Tony-nominated musical star will soon be a published author. Kendrick has signed a contract with publisher Touchstone to write a collection of humorous autobiographical essays about her upbringing as the daughter of an accountant and history teacher in Maine and her rise to fame in the “Twilight” franchise, “Up in The Air” and “Pitch Perfect.”

It was only a few months back that we noted our appreciation for Kendrick’s sense of humor, writing that her “Twitter account shows that behind the great pipes and onscreen comedic chops, Kendrick herself is one hilarious lady.” It seems that we — and her 3.85 million Twitter followers — aren’t the only ones who recognized her comedic potential.

“I’m excited to publish my first book, and because I get uncomfortable when people have high expectations, I’d like to use this opportunity to showcase my ineptitude, pettiness and the frequency with which I embarrass myself,” said a characteristically self-deprecating Kendrick in a statement from Touchstone.

She continued, “And while many of my female inspirations who have become authors are incredibly well-educated and accomplished comedy writers, I’m very, very funny on Twitter, according to Buzzfeed and my mom, so I feel like this is a great idea.” We at Women and Hollywood think it’s a great idea too. If her press statement about the book can make us laugh out loud, we’re confident that Kendrick’s (as yet untitled) book will accomplish the same. The collection of essays is slated for a Fall 2016 release.

Luckily, we have “Pitch Perfect 2” to tide us over in the meantime. Kendrick and the Barden Bellas will return to theatres May 15.
