Bedonna Smith Named Executive Producer of Activism at Anonymous Content

Bedonna Smith: Anonymous Content

New job title alert: “13 Reasons Why” producer Anonymous Content has created the role of Executive Producer of Activism, and Bedonna Smith has been hired to fill it. Smith most recently served as “a producer for Stand Up To Cancer across the organization’s multi-network fundraising specials, digital activations, and branding efforts,” Deadline writes. Her new post will see her connecting directors, writers, producers, and actors “with projects that have the potential to drive social change.”

Smith is no stranger to Anonymous Content. She previously held the position of Director of Emerging Media at the production company. Her new gig will see her working alongside Emerson Collective, which is a minority investor in Anonymous. The org is dedicated to “removing barriers to opportunity so people can live to their full potential,” according to the source.

“Our clients and the broad talent community crave projects that inspire, move, and create change,” the Anonymous Content partners said in a statement. “Having a producer dedicated to exploring innovative ways to advance the firm’s social justice content and initiatives is an invaluable resource to our clients and company, and Bedonna’s expertise in this field is unparalleled.”

“Having worked in the nexus of philanthropy, activism, brand, and entertainment, I understand how powerful cross-industry collaborations can be in driving meaningful change,” added Smith, whose work history includes creative and production roles on telecasts of the Oscars.

The fact that Anonymous Content has created this job suggests that the company is well-aware of the changing tides in society and Hollywood. Audiences are hungry for more inclusive, socially conscious stories like “Hidden Figures” and “Moonlight” — and box office receipts prove it.
