Casey Wilson and Busy Philipps to Play Sisters in Tina Fey’s New NBC Comedy

Casey Wilson, Busy Philipps, and Tina Fey have all starred in cult comedy hits, and now the trio is teaming up for “The Sackett Sisters.” Wilson and Philipps will play sisters in the Fey-produced NBC single-camera comedy pilot, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

According to the source, the project “revolves around the Sackett family, which is reunited when two estranged sisters perform an act of public heroism and are forced to navigate the aftermath together.” Bradley Whitford (“Transparent”) has been cast as the Sackett sisters’ father, Henry.

“Happy Endings” alumna Wilson will topline as Sutton Sackett, “the cautious, humble, and smartest in the Sackett family of train wrecks who moved as far from them as possible the minute she was old enough. Now living a normal and boring life in California, she works as a cost accounting supervisor for a canned fruit and vegetable distributor and has dated three straight guys named Dave.”

“Cougar Town” and “Freaks and Geeks” grad Philipps will play Maddy, Sutton’s older sister. Maddy is described as “the family’s living embodiment of their failure.”

THR reports that both Wilson and Philipps had “multiple offers this pilot season,” but chose to go go with “The Sackett Sisters,” which seems unsurprising. We’re betting most women in comedy want to work with Fey, who currently serves as an executive producer on “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” which she also created. The third season of the Netflix comedy starring Ellie Kemper (“The Office”) premieres May 19.

Luke Del Tredici, who wrote for Fey’s “30 Rock,” will write the pilot.

In 2015, Fey starred alongside fellow “Saturday Night Live” vet Amy Poehler in “Sisters.” The two played siblings in the Paula Pell-penned comedy. We pray that we’ll see the comic legends play sisters again — who knows, maybe they will turn up in guest spots on “The Sackett Sisters.”
