Starz’s decision to move its series “Power” to Sunday night is reportedly paying off, multiple outlets have declared. The premiere of its third season drew an audience of 2.26 million viewers at its new 9 p.m. time slot on Sunday night, an increase of 58 percent from its second season premiere.

“Power” was created by Courtney A. Kemp, who was signed to an overall deal with Starz last year to continue her role as showrunner. The crime drama centers on a nightclub owner who plays a major role in the NY drug scene.

“In today’s content landscape, it is challenging for a series to stand out, but Courtney is a singular voice working in television today,” Starz president and CEO Chris Albrecht said statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Along with our executive producers and the talented ‘Power ’cast and crew, they have created one of the most distinct dramas I’ve ever had the good fortune of putting on the air.”

“Chris Albrecht and the Starz team have believed in this show from the very beginning. Everyone here at ‘Power ’ is deeply grateful for the tremendous support we have received from the fans of the show, which made today’s announcement possible,” said Kemp. “I am humbled by this vote of confidence from the network and the opportunity to continue to employ our excellent cast and crew, who work tirelessly to bring this show to life.”

“Power” drew a 1.1 in the 18–49 demographic and actually beat the record previously held by “Outlander” for a season opener on Starz.
