Full Cast Announced for “The Little Foxes,” Starring Cynthia Nixon & Laura Linney

Cynthia Nixon in “Hannibal”: NBCUniversal

The Manhattan Theatre Club has announced the full cast of the new Broadway production of “The Little Foxes.” As previously reported, Cynthia Nixon and Laura Linney are set to alternate the lead roles of Regina and Birdie in the limited engagement of Lillian Hellman’s play. According to a press release, the two renowned actresses will be joined onstage by Caroline Stefanie Clay (“Doubt”), Lyla Porter-Follows (“Frontier”), Darren Goldstein (“The Affair”), Michael McKean (“Better Call Saul”), Richard Thomas (“The Americans”), David Alford (“Nashville”), Michael Benz (“Downton Abbey”), and Charles Turner (“The Trip to Bountiful”).

Set in 1900 Alabama, “The Little Foxes” “follows Regina Giddens and her ruthless clan, including her sister-in-law Birdie, as they clash in often brutal ways in an effort to strike the deal of their lives,” the press release summarizes. “Far from a sentimental look at a bygone era, the play has a surprisingly timely resonance,” it adds.

Daniel Sullivan, reuniting with both lead actresses, will direct the new production. Nixon won a Tony for Sullivan’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “Rabbit Hole.” Linney earned Tony nominations for her work in both Sullivan’s “Sight Unseen” and “Time Stands Still.”

Previews of “The Little Foxes” begin March 9 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. The play opens April 19. Nixon and Linney’s schedule for alternating the roles is still to come.

Most famous for her role as Miranda in “Sex and the City,” Nixon has recently acted in “Broad City, “James White,” and “Hannibal.” She’ll portray Emily Dickinson in the upcoming feature “A Quiet Passion.” Linney’s credits include the Showtime series “The Big C,” “Sully,” and “Nocturnal Animals.”
