“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” Receives Highest Ratings Yet

“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee”: TBS/YouTube

“We are only one menstrual cycle into this presidency and there is blood in the water.” That one-liner is the perfect distillation of Samantha Bee’s late night show: unapologetically feminist, political, and hilarious. It’s also a joke from the latest episode of “Full Frontal,” which according to Deadline was the show’s highest-rated installment yet.

Deadline reports that Bee “snagged her very bestFull Frontal’ Live + Same Day delivery among adults 18–34 (334K) and adults 18–49 (766K).” These new ratings aren’t a complete surprise, though — “Full Frontal’s” audience has been steadily growing since its 2016 election coverage. “The show has climbed 71 percent in its ratings among adults 18–34, and 92 percent in 18–49 in its first year,” the source summarizes.

Since her show’s debut in February 2016, Bee has been the go-to for feminist political analysis. She is also the only woman in the crowded late night field. As we’ve reported, “Full Frontal” is known for its incisive, caustic segments on everything from the NRA to the Women’s March. Even better, Bee isn’t afraid to express her anger about the current political climate. In a world where women are repeatedly shut down for being “emotional” we’re delighted to see Bee (rightfully) letting the world know if she’s pissed off. Many of her viewers are pissed too and — as her ratings suggest — look to “Full Frontal” for catharsis.

Further, a bump in “Full Frontal’s” ratings could be a boon to “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner,” the Bee-hosted alternative to the annual event for journalists and the presidential administration. According to a press release, “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” will be an evening of “surprises, music, food, and laughter — and if you’re not careful you just might learn something. Specifically, you’ll learn how screwed we’d be without a free press.” All of its proceeds will go to the Committee to Protect Journalists.

Now in its second season, “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” airs Wednesdays at 10:30 EST on TBS.
