Hallie Meyers-Shyer’s Reese Witherspoon -Starrer “Home Again” Gets Release Date

Reese Witherspoon in “Big Little Lies”

“Big Little Lies” concluded Sunday on HBO, and while we’ll miss much about the murder mystery, one of the highlights of the limited series was definitely watching Reese Witherspoon knock it out of the park on a weekly basis. Fortunately, we have a release date for another project from the Oscar winner to help soothe the pain of saying goodbye to Witherspoon’s Madeline Martha Mackenzie. A press release has announced that Witherspoon-starrer “Home Again” will hit theaters September 8.

Written and directed by Hallie Meyers-Shyer, the romantic comedy follows a newly single mom (Witherspoon) who finds herself in unexpected living conditions after relocating to LA. She ends up living with three younger men, and it’s not long before the household transforms into home, with the unlikely roommates forming an unconventional family.

“Home Again” marks Meyers-Shyer’s directorial debut. Nancy Meyers — Meyers-Shyer’s mother — and Black Bicycle Entertainment’s Erika Olde produced the project. Witherspoon was initially slated to star in Meyer’s “The Intern” before scheduling conflicts led her to exit the project. Her role was ultimately filled by Anne Hathaway, and the comedy grossed nearly $195 million on a budget of $35 million.

Based on Liane Moriarty’s 2014 best-selling novel of the same name, “Big Little Lies” centers on a group of mothers (Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and Zoë Kravitz) involved in a murder that takes place during a trivia night hosted by their children’s elementary school. The critically acclaimed project was also a ratings hit, and is expected to rack up a number of Emmy nominations.
