“Jessica Jones” Season 2 Gets a Premiere Date and Teaser

“Jessica Jones”

Jessica Jones is back and as deadpan as ever. “If you say with great power comes great responsibility I swear I’ll throw up on you,” says our favorite antihero in a date announcement for Season 2 of “Jessica Jones.” New episodes of the Krysten Ritter-starrer will hit Netflix March 8.

Created by Melissa Rosenberg (“Dexter”), the series centers on Jessica, a former superhero turned hard-drinking detective who’s dealing with PTSD. The first season of the show saw Jessica confronting Kilgrave (David Tennant, “Doctor Who”), a man capable of controlling minds — including Jessica’s.

While the clip doesn’t reveal much about “Jessica Jones’” sophomore season, a synopsis from Netflix does. Jessica is “beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why,” the streaming giant hints.

Every episode of the second season will be directed by women, but the names of the directors haven’t been revealed just yet. The number of women helmers featured in Season 1 was well above average: four of 13 episodes were directed by women, amounting to about 31 percent total. According to research from Dr. Martha Lauzen and The Center for the Study of Women in Televsion & Film, women comprised just 15 percent of directors working on cable and streaming programs in 2016–17.
