Kirsten Johnson, Ava DuVernay, and More Nominated for Critics’ Choice Doc Awards

The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA) have announced the nominees for the inaugural Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards, Variety reports

The nominees include Ava DuVernay’s New York Film Festival opener “13th,” which earned five nominations, and “CITIZENFOUR” cinematographer Kirsten Johnson’s “Cameraperson,” which earned four noms.

Quite a few female-directed docs have earned nominations, but only DuVernay and Johnson earned spots in the two Best Directing categories.
