Lifetime Renews “UnREAL” for Fourth Season and “Mary Kills People” for Second

“UnREAL”: Lifetime

If controversial dark comedies are your thing, Lifetime’s got you covered: the network is bringing lots more “UnREAL” and “Mary Kills People” your way, according to Variety.

“UnREAL’s” third season — featuring “Masters of Sex’s” Caitlin FitzGerald as the first female suitor of “Everlasting” — won’t debut until early 2018, but Lifetime has already opted to renew the Peabody winner for a fourth season.

Created by Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, the series takes place behind the scenes of “Everlasting,” a reality dating show that takes clear inspiration from ABC’s “The Bachelor.” Shiri Appleby (“Roswell”) stars as a long-time producer who excels at her job, but hates herself for doing it — the avowed feminist makes a living exploiting and manipulating other women. Constance Zimmer (“Entourage”) plays her ambitious, ratings-driven boss.

Stacy Rukeyser serves as showrunner on “UnREAL.”

The final episode of “Mary Kills People’s” first season aired in February, and Lifetime has confirmed that the Tara Armstrong-created series will return for a sophomore run.

Caroline Dhavernas (“Hannibal”) stars as a single mother and ER doctor who moonlights by providing euthanasia services to terminally ill patients.

Holly Dale (“Game of Thrones,” “Reign”) helmed all six episodes of the show’s first season.
