Michelle Williams and Kelly Reichardt Reunite for Untitled Indie Drama

Michelle Williams and Kelly Reichardt will be joining forces for the third time in an as-yet untitled indie drama. Reichardt is set to write and direct the project. No details about the plot have been revealed.

Reichardt first directed Williams in 2008’s “Wendy and Lucy,” which won Williams a best actress award at the Toronto Film Festival as well as a nomination from the Independent Spirit Awards. The two later teamed up in 2010 for “Meek’s Cutoff,” a western drama set on the Oregon Trail in 1845.

Reichardt most recently directed and co-wrote “Night Moves,” which starred Dakota Fanning and Jesse Eisenberg as eco-terrorists. Williams will next be seen in “Suite Française,” a romantic WWII drama co-starring Kristin Scott Thomas, Ruth Wilson (“The Affair,”) and Margot Robbie (“The Wolf of Wall Street”).

Williams is a bona fide movie star who continually works in the indie world. A week before shooting for “Meek’s Cutoff” began, Oscar-nominee Williams and the film’s other actors participated in a pioneer camp, learning how to knit and handle themselves around oxen. These collaborations between Reichardt and Williams always lead to stellar performances from Williams. The fact that these two have partnered up three times in less than a decade goes to show how well the projects turn out.
