New Sarah Silverman Stand-Up Special Is Headed to Netflix

Sarah Silverman in “Masters of Sex”

You’ll be able to catch Sarah Silverman’s latest stand-up material from the comfort of your living room. Silverman is the latest star to partner up with Netflix. The streaming giant has snagged the rights to a stand-up comedy special from the two-time Emmy winner, Variety reports.

Scheduled to shoot later this month, the special will be available to Netflix subscribers beginning May 30.

Silverman’s last comedy special, HBO’s “Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles,” earned her two Emmy nominations: Outstanding Variety Special and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special. She took home a trophy in the latter category. The comedian and actress previously won an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for co-writing the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” viral sensation “I’m F***ing Matt Damon.”

While best known for her stand-up and starring in the Comedy Central sitcom “The Sarah Silverman Program,” Silverman has also acted in a number of dramas, including Sarah Polley’s “Take This Waltz.” She had a lengthy arc on Showtime’s “Masters of Sex” and received a 2016 SAG nomination for her role in “I Smile Back,” a portrait of a woman struggling with mental health, addiction, and motherhood.

“Silverman is also partner at JASH, the comedy-driven media that she founded with Michael Cera, Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim, and Reggie Watts,” Variety writes. The Netflix special is being produced by JASH as well as Thruline’s Amy Zvi. Silverman is re-teaming with her “We Are Miracles” director Liam Lynch for the project.

Next up for Silverman is Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton’s “Battle of the Sexes,” due sometime this year. The tennis comedy is based on a true story and stars Emma Stone as Billie Jean King and Steve Carell as Bobby Riggs.
