Release Date Set for Angela Robinson’s “Professor Marston & The Wonder Women”

“Professor Marston & The Wonder Women”

Another story about Diana, Princess of Themyscira is coming our way. Deadline reports that Annapurna’s “Professor Marston & The Wonder Women” will be released October 27. The film is based on the real-life story of “Wonder Woman” creator Dr. William Moulton Marston and the women who inspired the iconic superheroine: his wife, Elizabeth, and lover, Olive Byrne.

Written and directed by Angela Robinson (“The L Word,” “True Blood”), “Professor Marston & The Wonder Women” focuses on the original publication of the “Wonder Woman” comics — which psychologist Marston (Luke Evans, “Beauty and the Beast”) published under the pseudonym Charles Moulton — and the polyamorous relationship between himself, his wife (Rebecca Hall, “Christine”), and Byrne (Bella Heathcote, “Man in the High Castle”). Connie Britton (“Nashville”) also stars.

The announcement of “Professor Marston’s” release date follows the overwhelming success of Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman” at the box office and among critics. The Gal Gadot-starrer has grossed $263,676,720 worldwide to date. Also, because of the film, Jenkins now holds the record for highest domestic opening for a female director.
