Rose McGowan Has an E! Series in the Works

Actress, activist, and director Rose McGowan is heading back to TV. The “Charmed” alumna is getting her own show, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. She’ll produce and star in “Citizen Rose,” a five-part documentary series for E!. Scheduled to kick off with a two-hour feature-length doc later this month, the project will follow McGowan’s life fighting the patriarchy and making art.

McGowan was among the first women to come forward with her story about disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein, and has played an influential role in the #MeToo movement. The “Scream” actress spoke at the Women’s Convention in Detroit this past October. While McGowan has been receiving more attention in the press as of late, she’s been calling out Hollywood’s sexism for years.

“If you know certain directors (men) behave reprehensibly, fight against their hire and offer up alternatives,” the “Dawn” director urged back in 2015. “Be bold. If someone is a known dickhead, stop their hire. If they are misogynists, stop their hire. These are not the people we need to reward. Stand up and stop perpetuating the cycle. We are responsible. Stop protecting evil. We didn’t join the Mafia when we joined this business. We owe no one our vow of silence.”

“Rose McGowan’s courage in addressing sexual abuse and harassment in Hollywood ignited a conversation and inspired other women to speak out against their abusers,” said E!’s executive vp development and production Amy Introcaso-Davis. “We look forward to taking viewers inside this talented, dynamic woman’s world as the first allegations unfold and she becomes a leading voice in a critical cultural change.”

McGowan added, “You are formally invited into my mind and world. I am thrilled to partner with E! to amplify my message of bravery, art, joy, and survival. As I ready my book, ‘Brave,’ I realized I wanted to show how we can heal through art even when being hounded by evil. I want to have a conversation with everyone, and most especially, you, about looking at things differently and seeing beauty everywhere. E!’s tremendous reach and impressive platform allow me to globally communicate the importance of living a brave life.”

“Brave” hits bookshelves January 30.
