Sarah Jessica Parker to Play a Singer in Upcoming Drama

Sarah Jessica Parker in “All Roads Lead to Rome”: Cristina di Paolo Antonio / eOne Entertainment

Sarah Jessica Parker portrays a woman who is ending her marriage in HBO’s upcoming series “Divorce,” but the actress is singing a different tune on the big-screen. The former “Sex and the City” star will play a singer in an untitled drama from AMBI Pictures, The Hollywood Reporter writes.

Plot details are scarce, but according to THR, Parker’s character is “a New York chanteuse named Vivienne who wrestles with the implications of a serious health diagnosis.”

Parker, who appeared in Broadway’s “Annie” as a child, will sing in the feature. Laura Eason (“House of Cards”) wrote the screenplay, and the film will be directed by Fabien Constant (“Mademoiselle C”).

Parker previously teamed up with AMBI’s Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi for “All Roads Lead to Rome,” a romantic comedy released earlier this year. The trio will produce the untitled drama along with Alison Benson, who serves as an executive producer on “Divorce.” Parker and Benson collaborated to develop the project, and AMBI will cover all financing.

“Divorce” premieres on HBO October 9. Thomas Haden Church (“Sideways”), Molly Shannon (“SNL”), and Talia Balsam (“Mad Men”) co-star in the half-hour comedy.
