Stana Katic-Led FBI Agent Drama Series “Absentia” Headed to Amazon

Katic in “Absentia”

You’ll soon be able to stream “Absentia” via Amazon Prime. Having been originally released on Sony’s AXN channels earlier this fall, the thriller drama series starring “Castle” alumna Stana Katic will debut on Prime sometime in 2018, Deadline confirms. The streamer will also host “Absentia” in various international markets like the UK, Australia, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Austria, Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, and Turkey.

The show revolves around Katic’s character, FBI agent Emily Byrne. “While hunting one of Boston’s most notorious serial killers, Agent Byrne disappears without a trace and is declared dead,” Deadline summarizes. “Six years later, Emily is found in a cabin in the woods, barely alive, and with no memory of the years she was missing. Returning home to learn her husband (Patrick Heusinger, ‘Casual’) has remarried and her son is being raised by another woman, she soon finds herself implicated in a new series of murders.”

Gaia Violo and Matthew Cirulnick created “Absentia.” Both creators serve as writers on the series alongside Elaina Perpelitt, Kate Powers, and Antoinette Stella. Katic, Cirulnick, Julie Glucksman, and Maria Feldman are among the EPs.

Katic starred as Kate Beckett in ABC dramedy “Castle” for eight seasons. The series ended in 2016. Her other credits include “Lost in Florence” and “The Rendezvous.”
