“The Daily Show’s” Michelle Wolf Has an HBO Comedy Special on the Way

Michelle Wolf on “Late Night with Seth Meyers”

Michelle Wolf has a stand-up special in the works at HBO. Scheduled to tape this summer, the as-yet untitled project marks Wolf’s comedy special debut, The Hollywood Reporter writes. You may already be familiar with the comedian from her appearances on late-night TV. Wolf currently serves as an on-air contributor and writer for “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah” and from 2014–16 she worked as a writing supervisor and performer for “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”

“Night Train with Wyatt Cenac,” “Horace and Pete,” and “The Awesomes” are among Wolf’s acting credits. She was part of the writing teams for the 2016 Oscars and the 2014 Emmys.

Wolf originally moved to New York City with plans to work on Wall Street, “despite having no background in finance,” The Guardian reports. “I was an athlete in college, and Wall Street likes athletes because they’re very competitive people that are willing to do anything to win,” she explained. “So I got a job at Bear Stearns in the summer of 2007.” Wolf began taking improv classes in 2008 and performing stand-up in 2011.

The HBO special will be written by Wolf and directed by Neal Brennan (“Chappelle’s Show”).

“Michelle is one of the most inspired comics working today. She is smart, sharp, and fiercely funny,” said Nina Rosenstein, executive vice president of HBO programming. “We couldn’t be more excited to present her first stand-up special to our audience.”

Wolf added, “What can I say, it’s HBO, it’s a dream. I’m mostly just trying not to get hit by a bus before I tape.”
