Trailer Watch: Anne Hathaway’s the Boss in Nancy Meyers’ ‘The Intern’

Anne Hathaway got on Hollywood’s A-list after starring as a recent college grad scrambling to make sense of the world of couture — and the Anna Wintour-like woman who makes its gears run — in 2006’s “The Devil Wears Prada.”

But Hathaway’s the boss in “The Intern,” written and directed by Nancy Meyers, though she’s hardly channeling the fire-breathing Miranda Priestly. Hathaway plays Jules, the uber-successful yet relatively inexperienced founder and CEO of a fashion-focused e-business. When told about the company’s new senior intern program, Jules assumes that it’ll be seniors in high school or college who will fetch her coffee — not “seniors in life.”

The trailer for “The Intern” reveals that, though Jules and her silver-haired intern (played by Robert De Niro) are initially ill at ease by their age disparity, they go on to bond over Facebook and pizza. It looks like a platonic love story, with two people at very different points in their lives offering each other direction and support.

“The Intern” opens September 25.
