Trailer Watch: Scarlett Johansson and Kate McKinnon Redefine “Rough Night”

“Rough Night”

Old friends, shots, and recreational drug use seem like pretty great ingredients for a wild bachelorette party, but manslaughter? Not so much. A Red Band trailer has landed for Lucia Aniello’s “Rough Night,” formerly titled “Rock That Body,” and from the moment one of the characters reveals that she got coke from a bus boy and berates the bride-to-be, you know the night will be one for the books.

Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live”), Zoë Kravitz (“Big Little Lies”), Ilana Glazer (“Broad City”), and Jillian Bell (“Workaholics”) play former college friends who reunite to celebrate Jess’ (Johansson) upcoming nuptials, but the party takes an unexpectedly dark turn when an overeager attempt to mount a male stripper leads to his death.

The women want to sober up and get rid of their cocaine before they call the police, but before they fess up they end up making matters much, much worse. “This could still be the best fucking weekend of our entire lives,” Alice (Bell) insists. Well, based on the footage of a Sea-Doo, gun, and elaborate BDSM device, it certainly looks like it will be one of the most memorable weekends of their lives.

“Rough Night” marks Aniello’s feature directorial debut. She’s helmed episodes of “Time Traveling Bong,” “Broad City,” and “Other Space.”

Check out the NSFW trailer for “Rough Night” below. The comedy hits theaters June 16.
