A trailer has been released for “My Blind Brother,” Sophie Goodhart’s feature debut. The comedy centers on Bill (Nick Kroll, “Burning Love”), a man who is constantly overshadowed by his overachieving blind brother (Adam Scott, “The Overnight”). While Bill is accustomed to playing second fiddle to Robbie, an awkward love triangle eventually pushes him over the edge.

“My sister was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when I was in my early 20s. I was embarrassed and surprised to find that after the initial sadness, I was jealous,” Goodhart told Women and Hollywood. “I realized that she would be forever this amazingly brave person battling adversity while I would continue to be a self-indulgent flake. I thought this dynamic would be interesting for a script.”

The film, based on Goodhart’s 2003 short of the same name, premiered at Sundance 2016.

The hilarious trailer shows Bill falling for Rose (Jenny Slate, “Obvious Child”), a one night stand who rejects him. The two unexpectedly reunite when Rose volunteers to help Robbie, an athlete, train. It’s not long before Robbie develops feelings for Rose, though he’s still sure to ask if she’s “hot or a pig.” Robbie is perceived by the public and press as a hero, but the footage suggests he’s an insufferable, ungrateful jerk.

Fans of “Parks and Recreation” will be delighted to see Ben, Mona-Lisa, and The Douche teaming up for “My Blind Brother.” Zoe Kazan (“Ruby Sparks”) co-stars. You can catch the film in theaters and On Demand September 23.
