Trailer Watch: Stana Katic Is An FBI Agent Who Comes Back from the Dead in “Absentia”

“Absentia”

“We’re in this together,” Special Agent Emily Byrne (Stana Katic, “Castle”) is told by her husband and fellow FBI Agent (Nick Heusinger) in a trailer for new series “Absentia.” “You weren’t the one who was taken,” she bites back.

The spot kicks off with what is by now an all-too-familiar scenario. An FBI Agent numbly watches on as a serial killer is found guilty of murdering his wife. But before you emit a groan in anticipation of yet another story that uses the death of the male lead’s significant other as motivation for revenge, keep watching — because this woman refuses to stay fridged.

“She’s alive,” says an ominous voice over the telephone, and soon enough Emily is bursting out of the refrigera-, sorry, tank where she has been held captive and is now demanding answers. “Where were you?” she asks her husband who, six years after his wife’s disappearance, has since remarried. But that’s only the beginning of Emily’s problems.

“Absentia” will air on select Sony Pictures Television Network AXN channels later this year. Check out the trailer below.
