Trailer Watch: The Bellas Are Ready to “Aca-Finish This” in “Pitch Perfect 3”

“Pitch Perfect 3”

The Barden Bellas have finally graduated and it turns out the real world isn’t as fun as collegiate a cappella competitions. Beca (Anna Kendrick) just quit her job. Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) is doing Times Square street performances as Fat Amy Winehouse. Chloe (Brittany Snow) is getting her hands dirty as a vet tech. Flo (Chrissie Fit) is making smoothies for rich kids (“Papaya Players’ Delight! With a shot of white privilege!”). And they’re all being followed around by commentators turned journalists Gail and John (Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins) who don’t seem to have anything better to do.

“The Barden Bellas are an unlikely group of not men, who somehow managed to win at something that didn’t have to do with baking,” John ad libs as he and Gail stalk Beca. “They’ve graduated college and spread their wings and are attempting to fly,” Gail adds. “Hopefully not becoming the failures we all expect them to be.”

With support like that, who can blame the Bellas for getting the band back together for one last gig?

Written by Kay Cannon (“Girlboss,” “30 Rock”) — who penned the previous “Pitch Perfect” installments — and directed by Trish Sie (“Step Up All In”), “Pitch Perfect 3” sees the ladies joining a USO tour in Europe. Once there, they face off against bands that “actually have instruments” and spark a rivalry with an all-girl group led by Ruby Rose (“Orange Is the New Black”). The Bellas are overwhelmed but something tells us the rag-tag group of underdogs will prove themselves once again.

“Pitch Perfect 3” hits theaters December 22, 2017. Anna Camp, Hailee Steinfeld, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Ester Dean, John Lithgow, and DJ Khaled also co-star.
