TV: Oprah Winfrey and Diablo Cody to Partner for HBO Comedy

In her last major role, Oprah Winfrey played against type as an alcoholic, adulterous housewife in The Butler. Winfrey will continue to show an edgier side with her most recently announced project, a Diablo Cody-created HBO comedy inspired by a book called Moody Bitches.

The full title of psychiatrist Julie Holland’s upcoming book is Moody Bitches: The Truth About the Drugs You’re Taking, the Sex You’re Not Having, The Sleep You’re Missing and What’s Really Making You Crazy. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Holland’s book “explores the pros and cons of the drugs people are being offered, as well as some surprising and highly effective natural therapies.”

We will be very interested to see what comes of the partnership between Cody and Oprah.
