Women and Hollywood Joins WrapWomen’s Inaugural Power Women Summit

Women and Hollywood is joining Time’s Up, Women In Film (WIF), and more in supporting WrapWomen’s first ever Power Women Summit. Taking place November 1 and 2 in Los Angeles, the event will “inspire and empower” 1,000 women in the entertainment industry, TheWrap has announced. WrapWomen, the producer of TheWrap’s Power Women breakfast series, is organizing “a full day of education, mentorship, workshops, and networking to promote women’s leadership in entertainment and media and related professions.”

The Power Women Summit’s overall program and message is in the vein of 5050by2020, which aims for full 50–50 gender parity by 2020. Various parts of the industry, such as agencies ICM Partners and CAA, have adopted this goal in the past few months.

Olivia Wilde, Mira Sorvino, #MeToo creator Tarana Burke, and A+E Networks CEO Nancy Dubuc are set to speak at the Summit. The event’s non-profit partners are Women and Hollywood, Time’s Up, WIF, We Do It Together, and International Women’s Media Foundation. Melissa Silverstein, Women and Hollywood’s Founder and Publisher, is serving on the Summit’s Advisory Board.

“We seek to connect the leading women of our Power Women Breakfasts nationwide and extend the spirit of achievement and excellence created at those boutique events at a national level,” Sharon Waxman, TheWrap’s Editor in Chief, explained at SXSW’s recent Power Women Breakfast.

Ten percent of the Power Women Summit’s net proceeds will go towards Time’s Up and other women’s non-profits.
