Women In Film Los Angeles Now Accepting Grant Applications

“AWOL”: Tribeca Film Festival

Female filmmakers, are you ready for some cash?

Women In Film Los Angeles has begun accepting applications for their 2016 Finishing Fund grants. The entry period opened yesterday and WIF will be accepting applications until June 30.

Up to $25,000 cash, in-kind and consultation grants will be awarded for films by and/or about women as represented in documentary, narrative, animated, or experimental films, shorts or feature length.

The fund was created in 1985 and since then has gone on to fund over 220 films. Recently, four past grant winners premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival: Deb Shoval’s “AWOL,” Priscilla Anany’s “Children of the Mountain,” which won Best New Narrative Director for Anany, Christine Turner’s “You Can Go,” and Kristi Zea’s “Everybody Knows Elizabeth Murray.”

The Finishing Fund also has a good track record of selecting films for completion that have gone on to win major awards, including: Freida Mock’s “Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision,” the 1994 Academy Award-winner for Best Documentary, Cynthia Wade’s “Freeheld,” the 2008 Academy Award-winner for Best Documentary Short Subject, and Maryam Keshavarz’s “Circumstance,” the 2011 Sundance Audience Award winner.

You can find all the details on how to enter to win at Women In Film’s website.
