Women In Film Now Accepting 2018 Finishing Fund Applications

The submission period for Women In Film’s 2018 Film Finishing Fund is open. Now in its 33rd year, the fund awards 10 to 15 grants to films by and about women. Documentary, narrative, animated, and experimental films are eligible, as are shorts and feature-length projects.

Finishing Fund applicants do not have to be Women In Film (WIF) members in order to submit.

Since 1985 WIF has presented over $2 million in grants to more than 235 films. Projects to receive support from the 2017 Finishing Fund include Amy Adrion’s “Half the Picture,” a doc investigating gender disparity in filmmaking, and Christina Choe’s “Nancy,” a thriller about a woman who becomes convinced she was abducted as a child.

This year the Finishing Fund is supported in part by Stella Artois. The company will award four grants of $25,000 to “fiction and documentary films that inspire social change, with particular consideration given to films with a water theme.”

“By funding these grants, we’re thrilled to continue our commitment to women in the film industry and help them achieve their dreams,” said Anna Rogers, brand director, Stella Artois. “It’s incredibly exciting to follow these films as they make a difference in the world and we hope to encourage other filmmakers to use their medium to do the same.”

The deadline to submit to the 2018 Film Finishing Fund is June 30. Recipients will be announced in November.
