Season 2 of Nicole Byer Series “Loosely Exactly Nicole” Headed to Facebook

“Loosely Exactly Nicole”

Nicole Byer’s cancelled MTV comedy may have found a new life at Facebook. A deal to pick up “Loosely Exactly Nicole” as part of the social media platform’s foray into original video content is close to being finalized. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news.

Based, well, loosely on Byer’s life, “Loosely Exactly Nicole” premiered on MTV last fall and was cancelled earlier this year. Created by Christine Zander (“Mom”), who also served as showrunner and EP, the series follows Nicole (Byer) as she tries to establish her comedy career and act like a real adult — whatever that is.

The deal with Facebook seems all but final. “A writers room has already been opened,” THR reports, “and some of the cast and all of the creative team…are poised to return.” 3 Arts and Jax Media will exec produce but MTV will no longer be involved in the show’s production.

If and when the series moves to Facebook, it will see the reunion of Byer and former MTV executive vp Mina Lefevre. Lefevre helped develop “Loosely Exactly Nicole” at the network before she took her current position as Facebook’s head of development.

No word on a premiere date for Season 2 yet, but Facebook is expected to introduce at least some of its original content this summer.

Byer made her breakout on the MTV how-to and advice series “Girl Code.” “Transparent,” “Party Over Here,” and “Lady Dynamite” are among her other credits.

“I think when people get to see someone who looks like them, I think that inspires people to do what they want to do,” the actress and comedian has said.
